Happy Holidays

All Summerwell members would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We are currently organising ourselves for next year’s hard work. Thank you very much for keeping in touch.

Sitting under the mistletoe
(Pale-green, fairy mistletoe),
One last candle burning low,
All the sleepy dancers gone,
Just one candle burning on,
Shadows lurking everywhere:
Some one came, and kissed me there.

Tired I was; my head would go
Nodding under the mistletoe
(Pale-green, fairy mistletoe),
No footsteps came, no voice, but only,
Just as I sat there, sleepy, lonely,
Stooped in the still and shadowy air
Lips unseen—and kissed me there.

Rocky Park Grow-to-sell project – Day 3

Rocky Park sign

On July 4th about 25 volunteers from insurance broker Lloyds Lockton contributed their time to help us make our project a reality. The guys from Lloyds Lockton were helping us building an insulated compost bin for Rocky Park Grow-to-sell project, and weeding, building and rearranging raise beds in other areas of Rocky Park Community Garden.
Teesadale & Hollybush Tenants and Residents Association (T&H TRA) achieved another great day with the help of these incredible volunteers!

They worked really hard !!

On July 3rd around 60 volunteers from financial firm Morgan Stanley gave us an amazing hand with the project. Our objective was:  to straighten the poles set the previous volunteer day, to build more raise beds, to cut and fix pond liner in the inner side of the raise beds, to fill up the raise beds with our super organic compost and top soil, to start to build the insulated compost bin and to care for the regular but important gardening tasks from some of the other green sites in the community. Rocky Park Grow-to-sell Project – Day 1

Rocky ParkTeesdale & Hollybush Tenants and Residents Association (Teesdale & Hollybush TRA) is a several times awarded community group. They have transformed their social and physical environment by creating food growing spaces for their residents and beautifully taking care of their gardens and open green spaces. These achievements have also been recognised by the visits paid by Barbara Windsor and Mayor Boris Johnson, Samantha Cameron, and Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla Parker Bowles.

About a month ago Teesdale & Hollybush TRA asked Salvador (Summerwell’s managing director) to volunteer with them in the design of an urban farming project for one of their sites, Rocky Park.

The aim of Rocky Park “Grow-to-sell” project is to supply local residents with an affordable organic vegetables delivery scheme, from which all profits will be reinvested back into the Tenants and Residents Association.
